Mind Over Matter and Slow the Heck Down!
In going through the first five days of the Beck Diet Solution and starting up again at Endorphin Fitness, I’ve already seen some new challenges I’d like to work on.
Apparently I could be in the running for world’s fastest eater. I usually refrain from talking even when out with friends and just get it all down. Makes for a great listener! I also have the clean your plate syndrome. I remember it fondly – my Nana praised my aunt (who is 8 years older than me, like a big sister) for finishing her plate at Shoney’s. It was then that I learned that leaving food on your plate is bad. And now I have to undo years of reinforcing this sentiment. I can’t blame anyone but myself but at least I am aware now and can start working on it. The Beck book pointed out that food will be wasted – either in the trash or on your body – the trash is a much better option. I’ve got my work cut out for me with slowing down while eating. This is going to be a hard habit to break. I know all the little tricks – put your fork down, drink water, etc. But today I found myself halfway through a meal before I remembered Ieven needed to slow down. Ha! So I’ll keep ya posted on that.
Exercise is going good so far. My goal for the week is to really follow the schedule mapped out for us on a calendar we all received at the beginning of the program.
Nutrition goal of the week is NO FAST FOOD! Not even Chick Fil A. Goodbye #5 value-sized with a sweet tea and polynesian sauce. I will miss you.
Oh! And my husband stepped on the scale today right before I did and we weigh the exact same down to the ounces! It will be very easy to figure out who’s losing more. Game on!
