Advantages Response Card
I recently heard about the Beck Diet Solution and had to get the book. This approach is actually not a diet, but a mental approach to losing weight. It’s the missing piece of the puzzle for me. I know what to eat, now I can exercise, but when the program/diet is over, then what? I go back to old me. This approach really changes your thinking which makes a life change. The first step is to create an “Advantages Response Card” – a list of all of the advantages of losing weight. Some are too personal, but here is a sneak peek into my motivation. Feel free to suggest more reasons to lose weight!
I WILL…
- be able to wear the clothes I want to
- be able to go shopping in normal stores and with friends
- be able to go to the pool/beach
- be more confident and outgoing
- look professional for work
- be healthy and not have back pain
- be able to exercise and do physical activities
- like being in pictures
- inspire others to lose weight
- become more disciplined
- have more energy
- live longer with a better quality of life
- shock people I haven’t seen in a long time
- be comfortable on airplanes, small restaurant booths, amusement parks
- complete the San Francisco step tour
The plan is to read this list twice a day to never lose sight of WHY. So far I’ve also learned to be conscious of everything I eat and to never eat standing up (no more nibbling on what I’m cooking!) and also I’ve learned to give myself some credit – pat myself on the back when I make good choices instead of beating myself up or giving up when I make wrong choices. Simple, yet it will be interesting to see how I can shape my thoughts and respond to the negative and sabotage thinking I’ve been experiencing my entire life. I’ll keep ya posted!
